Three Anchors

In Chi Alpha, all we do is guided by our three anchors: real devotional life, real community, and real responsibility.

Real Devotional Life

Our desire is that every student would have a vibrant, personal relationship with God. We believe that a real devotional life is necessary to maintain a solid relationship with God. Through spending time in the Word, and communicating with God frequently through prayer, we can thrive!

What does real devotional life look like?

  • Reading Scripture doesn't cause God to love you more, it causes you to love God more.

  • Prayer is relational and consequential.

  • Remember who you were, who you are, and who He is.

  • Never let serving God replace knowing God.

  • Genuine love for Jesus means obedience to Jesus.

  • Our devotion goes beyond our emotion.

  • The Christian life is a Spirit-led life.

Real Community

We are made for community! We believe that the greatest transformation occurs when we are living in real community with our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. That is why we consider the most important part of Chi Alpha to be our Core Groups.

Real Responsibility

We believe that every Christian has an outward responsibility and should play a role in global missions, relational evangelism, and justice. In Chi Alpha, we provide students with opportunities to serve on all levels.

What does real Community look like?

  • Always ask, "What difference does the Gospel make here?"

  • Carefronting is caring more about their future than their feelings.

  • Rejoice with those who rejoice, mourn with those who mourn. Vulnerability leads to intimacy.

  • A healthy heart is a grateful heart.

  • Choose trust over suspicion.

  • We must love truth and truly love.

  • When forgiveness is extended, someone must absorb the wound

What does real responsibility look like?

  • What God does in you, He wants to do through you.

  • A disciple makes disciples who make disciples.

  • You make a living by what you earn. You make a life by what you give.

  • Jesus early, Jesus often.

  • In God's global mission, we either descend or hold the rope.

  • Never miss an opportunity to pray for someone.

  • We don't just go for God, we go with God.

  • Invest and invite.
